“Dr O recommended ways to achieve those results but with realistic expectations”
Dr O and his nurse Kylene are wonderful. They both care about there patients and making sure your expectations are met. Prior to the procedure you will have an in depth consultation. I loved how Dr O listened to my wants and concerns. He recommended ways to achieve those results but with realistic expectations. Due to all the information I received I was able to make a well informed decision. I had a breast lift and tummy tuck. My results were amazing without any complications post procedure. Kylene was there 100% to follow up and address any questions I had during my recovery. I felt very much thought of and cared for. That was 4 years ago and I am still very happy with my results. I am super excited to return to discuss an upper eye lift, lower face and neck lift. I am confident Dr. O will do wonders in helping me look more youthful and refreshed. His practice offers many treatment options. I would highly recommend Dr. O and his team to anyone wanting to look and feel better about themselves.Beth Smith
What Is Breast Reduction?
Breast reduction is a surgery that takes away excess breast tissue to decrease breast size and weight. This procedure is performed for various reasons, but most patients undergo breast reduction to alleviate the symptoms caused by having large breasts. Symptoms include painful bra-strap marks, posture issues, rashes, and chronic back, shoulder, and neck pain.
Other patients seek out breast reduction surgery for aesthetic purposes. These may include feeling restricted in finding properly fitting clothes, feeling social discomfort, and yearning for a more normal breast size.
Ideal Candidates
You are a good candidate for a breast reduction if you are looking for a permanent solution to your large breast size. Breast reduction surgery is recommended for patients who have breasts that are out of proportion to the rest of their body. You may be an excellent candidate if you have experienced physical symptoms due to your heavy breasts.
In general, you are an ideal candidate if you are in good overall health, have realistic expectations, and are a non-smoker.
Your Breast Reduction Consultation
During your consultation with Dr. O, you will be asked a series of questions about your health and lifestyle. Your medical history will be reviewed, as well as your current medications and any previous surgeries you have undergone. A physical examination will be performed, including an examination of your breasts to take shape and size measurements for surgical reference.
What Is a Breast Reduction Like?
Breast reductions take several hours to complete, depending on the specifics of each patient’s case. To start the procedure, anesthesia is administered for the patient’s comfort.
Breast reduction surgery can be performed in two ways: liposuction or scalpel excision. In some cases, both techniques are utilized. Dr. O will determine which technique is the best to use based on the treatment plan.
Liposuction involves creating a small incision and removing excess fat using a thin tube called a cannula. Medical suction is administered to remove the fatty tissue.
Scalpel excision begins with creating incisions in specific patterns depending on the amount of glandular breast tissue being removed. The incision can be made using two concentric circles, a lollipop shape, or an anchor shape.
After the incision has been made, the nipple will be adjusted to its new position. The underlying breast tissue will be reduced and then lifted for its new shape. Excess skin will also be removed, and the areola may be resized. Once the breast reduction has been completed, the incisions will be closed with sutures to create a smaller breast size and shape.
The Recovery Process
Breast reduction surgery requires several days to a few weeks for recovery. Moderate to heavy physical activity must be limited for two to four weeks for the breasts to fully heal.
Expect swelling and bruising on the treated areas. Pain medications can help alleviate discomfort. Certain clothing, such as underwire bras or constricting tops, should not be worn for a while to lessen direct pressure and impact.
Cost of Breast Reduction
The cost of breast reduction surgery may be impacted by anesthetic and surgical fees. The overall price may also depend on the complexity of the procedure and the techniques used.
