How Liposuction Works
Patients must first be approved by Dr. Sonny O as a good candidate for the surgery, which includes a medical history and an exam to ensure good health. The procedure is not considered to be a weight loss surgery and should not be used as one. Liposuction is generally an outpatient procedure and is done with the use of a local anesthetic. Fat deposits are identified prior to the procedure and are removed during surgery by way of a cannula (hollow tube) and an aspirator (suction device). An IV is used to ensure that the patient’s fluid balance is not disrupted since fat contains fluids which are removed with the fat. Recovery is fairly quick 2 days to 2 weeks depending on where the liposuction was done and how much fat was removed.
Results of Liposuction
Directly after the procedure expect swelling, bruising and fluid retention, these are normal and will pass. Once the swelling has gone down you should begin to notice the tighter more defined curves you hoped for. Sometimes it may take more than one surgery however to provide the results you want, so make sure to talk to your doctor about what you can realistically expect.
Most women want liposuction as a way to create more defined curves. Provided patients are in good health and their skin has good elasticity this procedure is very successful at sculpting bodies to attain the curvy profiles women seek. The results are typically long lasting provided you are able to maintain a steady body weight and keep yourself in good health and have a good fitness level.
